Most say our globe is warming;
Others claim it's not.
I agree with neither --
Earth's already gotten HOT.*
Should an asteroid approach us,
Threatening all our lives,
We'd surely take quick action,
United planet-wise.
Disasteroids** in fact approach us
Spawned by global warming,
Threatening all of life on Earth --
When will we heed the warning?
Nature shows us what will happen
Should Earth's gases go awry.
We will match our sister Venus --
Lifeless beauty in the sky.***

** Disasteroids: A variety of calamities occurring more subtly and slowly than asteroids but just as devastating: melting glaciers, lethal heat waves, lowland flooding, massive hurricanes and more.
*** With runaway carbon dioxide in the atmospere, Venus' greenhouse effect results in temperatures exceeding 500 degrees F. Its climate, with a surface temperature hot enough to melt lead, is hotter than planet Mercury's.
